Perversion

Bro. Lee Vayle - February 26, 1969

...much less to know Thee, Lord, or Thy things. So, we pray tonight that Your Spirit now will help us to look to You and we might know the things which are freely given to us of God. And to know the Message for our day, Lord, in what place we stand in. So, Father, we're hungry that we might be helped in every way possible tonight. So, we just yield ourselves to You, believing that You'll help us, giving us the words to say, Lord, the minds and hearts to understand, the Spirit of God in us to carry them out, and to manifest them in this last day in the Name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

1. Now, just to have a little study tonight and not get in too deep with a lot of notes and things that usually I like to work with. I want to approach the subject tonight that is so important, again which I covered in a way, but we'll talk about in a different way now, is the subject of 'Perversion'. See, most people are convinced that this Age ends in Communism vs Christianity or atheism vs Christianity, that the problem lies in the complete rejection of the Word, the rejection of God. The rejection of religiosity even, and that's wrong. (See?) That's what's wrong. It's not black and white. It's not good and evil, it's the mixture. It's the end of the Age in perversion.

Now, everything God made in the beginning was good. That's why we have the Lamb's Book of Life, before you have the Book of Life. Now, that may sound strange. You say, "Well, wouldn't it be the Book of Life and in the segment in the Book of Life, the Lamb's Book of Life?" No, that's not true. It's the Lamb's Book of Life that comes first. (See?) Then it's the Book of Life, because as God placed His children here in earth, which He did by Adam.

2. Now, we're just going to sort of you know, can't work my notes now, I'm just going to go by feel, so you just do your best to listen, come along. And never mind looking up Scripture, unless you're pretty fast and I'll give you time. (See?) But in Genesis 2:7, It says:

(7) ...the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; ...

Now, that's the wrong translation. It's "God breathed into his nostrils the breath of lives." Not life, but lives. (See?)

(7) ...and (this) man became a living soul.

Now, in Adam was all that God placed there as God was going to identify His Life in a group of people with which He wished to have fellowship. They were all placed in Adam, so that Eve came out of Adam. So that Eve was nothing but Adam plus multiplied cells. Then if they would procreate children, (which of course they did) and you know the story how that this was not in the first and great will of God, that God would have given them the ability to raise the children out of the dust. And they bypassed this, but God being God, He didn't bypass it, He just let them go ahead. And now at the end time He'll bring them out of the ground. Because the Bible says in James, "right now the Lord is waiting for the precious fruit of the earth, the Husbandman." [Jas 5:7] (See?)

3. Now remember, Jesus said, "God went forth and planted good seeds." Right? That's what He did. They were people . Right? They were God's people, and they were planted in Adam. Now, everything that God did was good. And God had placed into Adam these lives which would be brought forth in the ordained time each one coming as these, (as Bro. Branham said) the manifested Word for that day. God's thoughts coming into express reality, just like your thoughts were in Adam, then Eve, and in Abel and in Seth, and in Enoch, and Enoch, all these down the line. (See?) They came into manifestation in their day.

Now, this was fine, but you'll notice what happened was that Eve being the weaker member, and as a by-product of man and would be the snare, because God said concerning Eve when she was presented to Adam, Moses was speaking by the Holy Ghost, "for this cause shall a man leave his father and mother." [Gen 2:24]

4. Now, the Father and Mother of Adam was God. So therefore, Adam is going to leave God for Eve, and that's exactly right. Because when the time came that Adam should have taken Eve to God and said, "I can do no other, then bring her to You for judgment and death."

He said, "No sir, I'll just leave God any day of the week." And he did it. (See?) And perversion came into the race. And with it you have the Book of Life. See, the record, because "in Him we live and move and have our being." [Acts 17:28]

And though Cain was the seed of the serpent, Eve could legitimately say, "I have gotten a man from the Lord." [Gen 4:1b] Because God is the original creator, and all Satan can do is corrupt. (See?) He can only take what God has and work with it. So, he did that. (See?) He's not creator. Many people think the devil can create. The devil cannot create. The devil, he doesn't even have any power of his own. (See?)

5. Look at that Word, 'almighty'. Most everybody when they get up and sing the praise of God and say He's Almighty, they don't even know what they're saying when they say 'almighty'. To them it simply means, well He's got the most of it. But the word in the Hebrew and the Greek, and the English 'almighty' means 'a-ll-m-i-g-h-t'. In a plain vulgar way of speaking Eve got it all, and ain't nobody else got anything. (See?)

What is the devil doing? He is using the very power of God and perverting it. Today there is nothing which did not have its root in originality and truth and perfection. I may be...hard to understand. But that's the truth. See, there can't be a counterfeit without the original. And people get so mixed up here. (See?) What's to get mixed up? You can't have a counterfeit without original. If there were no originals, the counterfeit would be the original. (See?) In other words, the first thing is the real thing.

6. Now, the serpent was real. That's fine. He was fine for what he was made to do. Just leave him be a serpent. (See?) Just leave him be, he's fine. Leave him outside the human race, beautiful, perfect, good, (see?) but he got mixed into the human race. See, the race was hybridized.

That's why Jesus said to the Pharisees warning them. He said, "Make the tree good, or make the tree evil." [Mt 12:22a] "That's fine, I'll take that." He said. Make it white, make it black that's fine, I'll take that. (See?) Make it God, make it the devil, that's fine I'll take that. But He said, "Don't you dare mix them up, don't get them misplaced." He warned them.

As you'll notice in Scripture that It distinctly says in [Genesis 2:] verse 9, (dealing with men) "that the tree of Life also in the midst of the Garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." Now notice, these two trees never grew in the ground. The Bible says, "Out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that's pleasant to the sight, and good for food."

7. Now, the Bible doesn't say these came out of the ground, so you know right away they did not come out of the ground. And because they did not come out of the ground, they are not good to eat. (See?) So, these trees are symbols. (See?) They're spiritual concept in here.

But notice, It says, "The Tree of life also in the midst of the Garden." This would make me to believe that it predated the Garden. It predated the Garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And here is what Scripture starts with, showing you that man's relationship to God is annulled by perversion. (See?) Because It says, "In the day you eat of that tree, (which is a perverted tree, see?) make it good or bad, but don't you mix them. The minute that you touch that tree, that the mixture, the perverted thing, (He said) that's it."

8. Now, at the end of the Ages if everything in Genesis is a seed book, then the end of the Ages has to end with the fruit of what's in Genesis. Revelation is the harvest Book, and Genesis is the seed Book. So therefore if we are going to understand the end of this Age, we are going to have to understand it in the light of original problem, which is perversion. The Word of God perverted. (See?)

I said awhile ago everybody says, "Oh, we got it by Communists, because they're going to take away the Bible. That's not your trouble, that's the complete black one. (See?) Don't worry about him. He's not our problem, every time anybody ever risen up to do something to take away God, or the Word of God, the people have risen up my brother, my sister, with the gallantry of Christ and defended Christ and the Word and died. But, this is the time when the whole world gets sucked in. Follow me? Follow me? There won't be people dying for this. They'll be taking this. The multitudes will take it. (See?) So, you don't need to worry, and get it out of your minds, it hasn't a thing to do with Communism. Now, that's here. Sure that's here, we don't know that, we're not going to fuss about that, that's here. But you don't need to worry about it.

Because you see, it isn't the complete abolishing of God and His Word that starts in here. It is man taking the perverted word. And God said, "The minute you take the perverted word, that's when you die." (See?) So, here's our picture, the picture is one of perversion.

9. Now, It says here that, "The Tree of Life was in the midst of the Garden." Well, we know there is only one Source of life and that's Christ. "This is the record God has given us eternal life, and the Life is in the Son, and he that hath the Son has life. And he that has not the Son, hath not life." [1 Jn 5:12] That's true, that's very good. And the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Now, we could also look at this tree here in a sense of the fact of the life that God placed in this earth to Adam and Eve, it was perfectly good. But the minute the life would become perverted, any degree of perversion come in there, then that's the thing that God is against.

10. Now, God says here, "You partake of that tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and the day of the eating thereof, dying thou shalt surely die." [Gen 2:17] And that’s exactly right. Now, if the tree of the knowledge of good and evil brings death to the people, there is only one antidote, and that is to bring that man to the truth which is life.

So therefore, at the end time when there's going to be a harvest and a great show of perversion, there it has got to be met, to bring the Bride out at this end time, and to bring the Bride out of the graves, and to bring the Bride up into the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, is going to take an absolute return to the truth, which is going to bring them to the Tree of Life. (See?) No, you see it? If the Bride's...we've got to go back to Eden brother/sister there isn't any way out of it. (See?) So, at the end time there has got to be the deliverance of God's people, not from Communism. (See?) Not even from Sodom and Gomorrah, bad as it is.

11. Not even from the flesh, the fire that's coming upon the earth. Those things are in the Scripture, but that's not our problem. The problem is get back to that Word. (See?) Un-perverted absolute Tree of Life, the Word of God, because the Scripture says here, "If you take of the perverted tree, that's death." And there cannot be any, with any stretch of the imagination, any restoration apart from somehow God bringing back the people to the position where they can stretch forth their hand and go to that Tree. Because the Lord placed a cherubim with a flaming sword in his hand.

And he says, "You must not touch it, or (he said) you'll live forever." Here God was saying to human beings, now, he said, "If I don’t guard that Tree now, the condition what they've got, they can eat, and they'll just keep on living and living, and living; they would eat and drink, and to get out there; maybe even sow the land, or at least go out and pick the fruit off the tree; or prune the bushes, and do lots of little things like we know that would take place in the primitive time of the Garden of Eden." And God said, "Well, they'd just go on ahead and live and live, and live."

So, you see if there's going to be a Resurrection, and God's got to give a Resurrection, (see?) we're going to have to have to have a Bride at the end time that absolutely restores to the original pure Word of God, and absolutely un-perverted. (See?) Now, that's what we're coming to. You can see this from the Scripture.

12. Now, as I said awhile ago at the end time there is going to be this perversion brought to a head. That's why the Bible says over here in the Book of 2 Thessalonians 2:1

(1) Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our (complete) gathering together unto him,

Now listen, Bro. Branham said that word 'gathering' it's in volume 2, and number 15, page 29, Bro. Branham states that, this is the gathering of the Lord's people together. Now, notice what it says here. The word in the Greek however is 'complete gathering'. (See?) So, this gathering completes all the gatherings of God's people. Did you hear what I said? I don't want to lose you now, because it might get too hot in here, I might not be too alive wire. I'm not too much of being a live wire and scream and shouting. Because then I'd get excited and carried away, and it'll takes me a long time to get carried back. That time you might have lost me and I might have lost you.

13. So, just try to keep calm about this and go to the Book of Luke 13:34, this is all part of my subject, so don't worry. We cover the thing the best we can. It says:

(34) O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy (It doesn't say 'thy', that's interpolated, the) children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and (you) would not!

Now notice, how did God gather, how was God gathering His children? By the prophets and those that were sent unto Him.

So, now It says here, (so Bro. Branham was right you see, you never sell him short.) He was right. Not that I'm saying he's right, makes any difference, you know when he's right. But I want to show you the Scripture, because that's our job to break It down and show you, in case you've got a little doubt, let's get your doubts out of the way. Bring on your Greek students, bring on your seminaries, your professors. Here's an unlearned man, that can put it together here and they couldn't.

14. Now, they'll tell you what this means. In the Greek it means the 'complete gathering together'. And this end time prophet with his gathering completes it. He completes it. See, now not a lot of people don't believe that, but I know some of you do, and the rest of you are not saying amen, that's okay, because you know my style, I don't ask you to say 'Amen'. I trust in your hearts you know you're right. Say, we're right here.

This is the completed gathering. It ...?.... anymore. It takes care of the Bride. (See?) And this gathers us to Him, although we're still going to be standing here, and walk right into that life we're talking about without having to go to the grave, and come up with the resurrected body. We'll get the same thing without dying, and moldering now.

15. It says here, [2 Thessalonians 2:]

(1) ...and by (the complete) gathering ... this is the end of it.)

(2) That (you) be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, (you can get a spirit on the people) nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that day of Christ is at hand.

Now, he said:

(3) Let no man deceive you...

Notice now, Paul says, "Don't let anybody deceive you, no matter what channel they use." Notice he said, "spirits, word, or letter." (See?) And he uses the word 'deception'. In other words somebody is going to come along and they're going to take the Word of God and pervert It. They'll even have something to do with the very Spirit of God, as they pervert the Word, and they'll lead people away, or people will get downright shook up.

16. Now, he says, "Don’t' get shook up about this perversion which is coming upon the world.

(3) Let no man deceive you, (see, that's deception, perversion) for (except) that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Just like Judas. Judas was the son of perdition. Now, there's going to be another son of perdition, and Judas had a devil. In fact the Scripture says, he was the devil. Because the Scripture says, "The devil entered into him." [Jn 13:27a] This in spite of the fact that he was one of the twelve chosen by Jesus Christ. And also in spite of the fact that he had a ministry identical to Peter and the rest, because the Book of Acts says so. Now, It says here:

(3) ...(he's) the son of perdition.

(4) Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God (sits) in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

That's antichrist. Which doesn't mean 'against' Christ, but means 'instead' of Christ.

17. Now, you say."Well, Bro. Vayle, Bro. Branham didn't say that antichrist didn't mean 'against' Christ, it's like you're saying it means 'instead' of Christ."

You just hold on a minute, we're going to correct that right now. Because Bro. Branham used that word two ways. When the people tried to make him Jesus, he said, "You are making me antichrist." Instead of Christ. Which showed you that he was using the Greek meaning. But when he used the other terminology, as antichrist, meaning against Christ, which he could do in the English vernacular, but never once did he use them out of place. You watch your tapes, you'll find. I just had to throw it in, because you people all hear tapes. But the trouble is, some of you get a hold of one thing, and you just run like wild fire when... just watch it. Just watch it. (See?)

You get a place where one place Bro. Branham says, "Jesus never called himself the Son of God." And turned right around and say he did call Himself the Son of God. And another say, he turned right around and say he didn't call himself the Son of God. What's he talking about? Ministries, placing according to the ministries in the era, (see?) we got to watch.

18. Now, this is a true antichrist. And when he sits there, he is accepted. But the people are fooled by what they accept. Notice he says :

(5) Remember not...when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

He said, "I'm warning you, they're going to change, they're going to change what I said."(This is Acts 20, we'll deal with It again.)

(6) And now (you) know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

(7) For the mystery of iniquity doth already work:...

Now notice, there is a mystery about iniquity. "Well, (you say) Bro. Vayle, that's really silly for the Bible in saying that thing. Anybody knows when a fellow is wrong, and when a fellow is right." Is that a fact?

19. Let's just find out if the Bible says that. Over here in the Book of Malachi, I've got news for you, as It has news for me. It says here in Malachi 3:18, It says, "When the people turned back to God, and only when they turned back to God."

They've been deceived all along that they're turned to God, but they're not turned to God. Now, how in the name of common sense can anybody know he's turned to God? By the goose-pimples? I've had people get goose-pimples and stab me in the back having goose-pimples. So phooey on your goose-pimples. You can have them Bud, I don't want them. You can have your shouting spells, your dancing. I've seen that happen too, the louder you shout, the higher you jump, and the more you dance, you'll even cut a guy's throat. Well, you just jump higher, to cut his throat that's all. I've been all through that, nobody's kidding you about that.

20. It says, [Malachi 3:]

(18) (You) shall (turn back), and discern between (righteousness) and (wickedness), ...

It doesn't say, "The righteous and the wicked, It says, righteousness and wickedness." And that's exactly what the tree in the Garden is all about. It's such a mess of understanding of good and evil, that you can be doing good and think it's evil, and you can be doing evil and think it's good. And at the end time that tree has got to come into full effect. Not one little bit of worry about the heathen, and communism. But only in consideration of that which calls itself 'the church', which will gather around a man taking the place of Christ. Just like the pope does now, because antichrist shall not come, he's already come. Just the last time one hasn't hit here yet, least he hasn't been revealed.

You see, that's where Protestants are all messed up. The Catholic's are so happy, because they keep on printing, "antichrist shall come, antichrist shall come." He already came, at the Nicaea Council, they put a crown on him. He has already come! But the end time last fellow, is yet to be manifested. He may be right here, in fact, I believe he is. But, I can't call his name, because I don't know. I haven't got any revelation, how could I say? (See?)

Know you not that he's going to be revealed, for the mystery of iniquity doeth already work? And the mystery of iniquity is that tree, the add mixture, the perversion. (See?) And the day's coming when there'll be a group of people at the tail end that have absolutely gone to that tree of the knowledge of good and evil, one hundred percent except a little 144,000 there in Israel, because all the rest will be dead. They'll all be right to that tree, (See?)

21. Now, He said, "Only He that hindreth, will hinder till He be taken out of the way." [2 Th 2:7b] And only the Holy Ghost, only the Spirit of God, and I can tell you, I can even go even further here, and there's a possibility I could be right, but I'm not giving this as a doctrine now, I'm only giving you this as a thought. But you know that in Seventh Church Ages, remember John behold seven golden candlesticks. Right?

And in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks one like unto the Son of man. Now, I puzzled about that, say, why if he looked like Son of man, and ...?.... him, then he wasn't the Son of man. But here is what the Greek says: the word in the Greek 'like unto the Son of man', that gives the same Word. One in the midst of the seven candlesticks that gives the same Word as the Son of man. (See?)

22. There He is, and He's in the midst of the seven messengers. Say, "I don't see how that Bro. Branham could have been telling John all about this." I just thought I'd put that in there, I'm not going to explain it, you just figure it out for yourselves. I'm serious about it too."

There was one in the midst and he was that one Who had the Word. And the seventh church age messenger, (every one) had the same Word that he's got for their day. And until God removes that last one, (yes sir) they'll not come this man on the scene, who is that mystery of iniquity embodied. Because as long as that man was here, we had access to the absolute Word of God, because he could get to God as nobody but an absolute prophet.

No man since the time of Paul, had the revelation of the Pillar of Fire in those years as was given to Bro. Branham. And the Holy Spirit working in him giving us that Word, and God had those men and they had been the hindering, the hindering manifestation, because you can't see the Holy Ghost anymore than I can. You can't see the Pillar of Fire either, you saw the reflection. I never even saw that, some people saw the reflection, I didn't even see that. Only he saw the Pillar of Fire, he said that himself. (See?)

23. Now, this Spirit is hindering until He be taken out of the way. "And then shall that wicked be revealed whom the Lord shall consume with the Spirit in His mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of His Coming." [2 Th 2:8] And that's true, God is going to destroy that whole bunch there. But notice, it has to do with the fact of deception, deceiving those who believe in God, who worship God, and have some type of foundation in the Word.

Now, look again. We're not even talking so much about the people who have said, "I don't know that I believe that Word. I don't think our church really should stand up and say that we believe that's the infallible and anointed Word of God. I don't necessarily think we believe in what they call 'the plenary theory', I don't think our preacher's ought to be made to take an oath that they stand on this as the Word of God." (See?) I'm not been talking about them. I'm talking even more so about those people who say, "Listen, I want to tell you, I believe from cover to cover, and even what's on the covers." I'm talking about them. (See?)

They're the ones that are going to believe 'the lie', because they're going to believe they're alright, because they love and worship Jesus and have an evidence of God among them, and say, "How can we be wrong when they are wrong, because they're perverted?"

24. And remember it's the end time with all subtlety and damnableness. Which means 'judgment and destruction', which is their damnation. And the subtility brother/sister which was in the Garden has to be right at this day when Eve gets fooled again as she never was fooled before. Absolutely seduced, sucked right in, and doesn’t even know it till it's absolutely too late. (See?) That's exactly how it's got to be, because the Bible says so.

Notice It says, "Even him whose coming is after the working of Satan." [2 Th 2:9a] The working of Satan what it is, and what did he start with, fooling the woman. How? Perverting the Word. (See?) He didn't come along and say, "Now, I want you to know there's nothing to that Tree of Life there in the Garden. I want you to know even, you want to learn something, I'm a one of superior, full superior authority and I know a few things. Because anybody knows, and you know very well that I'm the most subtle of all the creatures." And subtle means 'subtle'. That means 'smart'. "I want to tell you right now, (he said) you have certainly been taken down the primrose path by God, and He has lied, lied, lied." He didn't say that. Just changed one word. (See?) Where Satan works.

25. It's the deceivableness. She was deceived all the time in good conscience, sincerely, even maybe trying to be right, yet she was fooled. (See?) That's the working of Satan. You think Satan's down there getting a bunch of the Mafia to shoot up people there in a bunch of bars? And you've missed your understanding of Scripture a hundred million miles. That's too obvious. That's too obvious. That's not it, that's no lie to believe that she's ...?.... You go down the street...why listen, you know tonight the way the Catholic church used to stand. I say, 'used to stand'.

When old Leo had Tetzel going around the country and telling the folk to buy up their penance tickets before they had any reason to repent and do penance. Oh, that was a ball. You could save up all your cue cards and all your receipts that you gave the pope. And you want to get rid of your brother-in-law, (and maybe better still your mother-in-law) you had it already as long as you gave Tetzel the bundle for Leo. Why, you know that that... you know how wrong that is. You know what that...that's not today brother/sister. The Roman Catholic church is coming in line with the Protestants. They've got beautiful ceremonies, beautiful thoughts. They're coming so close to apologizing, (which they never will, but don't worry.)

26. The best they can do is say, "Well, if we only had John XXIII instead of Leo, we never would had to break." That's the closest they'll ever come to apologize. But see how subtle they are. How gracious they are, they changed. Why, they even go down in South America where you'd be killed for being a Protestant in many places right today, they absolutely invite you to come to their churches. And they'll got to your church, exchange preachers, and they'll tell their folks, "You listen to the Gospel."

Why do you think [Cardinal] Cushing was told the world to go and hear Billy Graham? And poor Billy goes and says to the Catholics when he gets that lovely degree, and you know Buckman says, "You get colder by degrees." He took the degrees down there in the college in North Carolina. And Billy got a little colder, because he said, "Why, (he said) you people, we're preaching the same Gospel you preach." Now, where did he get that? (See?) Why, they're winning and they're coming in by flatteries.

They say, "Oh now, look here, (says the devil to Eve) now, now, look, we're ...?... we just shouldn't follow oh this little thing here." Why, look at our list of martyrs. And they'll say, "Well now, what do you think of Francis of Assisi?"

"Oh, (says the Protestants) he was certainly a jewel, he was our jewel." (See?)

Or we said to them, "Now, what do you think of Luther?"

"Oh, (they say) bless God, wasn't that tragic? If only John XXIII had been there instead of Leo, we'd have that many too?"

27. See, what we're coming to? This deceivableness, it's the subtility of it. It's after the workings of Satan. (See?) And then It says here, "there's going to be all kinds of powers, signs and lying wonders, with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie." [2 Th 2: 9b-11]

This is not the Communist bloc. If I read my Bible right, (what's It's Revelation 17) there are two sets of tens in there. Ten kings, one gives their power to the beast, (see?) loving her. One hates her, but gives her power waiting for the day when he can get back and destroy her. That's the Communist bloc, the ten that hate her. And the European bloc, our bloc, what we made and raised up, because we saved Europe for the Roman Catholic's, and don't think we didn't brother/sister, because I can prove it to you.

28. 'Vinegar' [nick name] Joe Stilwell under the guidance of George Catlett Marshall under the guidance of the State Department, under the guidance of Presidents, under the United States signed away all of Asia to the hands of the commies. What are we doing there now? We gave it to them. We promised Chiang Kai Shek gold and kept promising gold. While Morgenthau stole our place and took it to Russia, to turn out millions and millions and millions of dollars. Billions of our money. I guess that's maybe why were bankrupt right today. (See?) We refused Chiang Kai Shek the money, the gold we promised until he went into bankruptcy. And Stilwell said with one stroke of the pen, "I signed away ten divisions."

So, we went to Europe (see?) where they're really are Communists, and we stopped Rome from falling, because Rome would have fallen, because there're more commies per capita there in Italy, than there are in Russia, the percentage is greater.

29. We stopped Greece from falling, there were many commies there. I believe the percentage was bigger than Russia. We stopped France from failing. There again the percentage is greater. We stopped Belgium, and there again the percentage is high. We, America gave the Roman Catholic's Europe. Now, there's two blocs, you see. And the one bloc will go along with the other bloc, because the Communists cannot produce food. Now, don't you ever forget that as long as you live. Because brother/sister, remember it was Mr. Hoover with well good intentions went to Russia and to save the Russian children, but saved Russia for the commies by saying to the farmers, "Please go back to your farms. Please go back and we'll feed you and help you." And they went back, and the Russian revolution went on because we did it.

Bro. Branham said, "they're going to burn the flesh of the harlot." They will too. Every where the Roman Catholics, your Greek Catholics have been, always, all you got to do...the Catholics talk about fighting the commies. Isn't that a great joke. Everywhere the Catholics are, the commies come in. They pulled that in Canada. But up there were a little more astute perhaps then some other people in the North American continent. And so a Baptist minister made a map. And on the map where the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox churches were in power, he made it purple. And where the commies are today, he made it red. And then he put one map over the other map, and he found where the Catholic's were, exactly where the map fits, they turned red. They're going to burn the flesh, but they've got to go along. (See?)

For I'm trying to show you this, don't worry about that group. Don't worry about them. They're the ones who have repudiated God and everything about God, worshipping a god of force. They have no time for the Lord Jesus Christ in mass, now some do of course. They have no time for God. But isn’t it strange the Roman Catholic church has made overtures and has success fully gotten with the Communists to have dialogue to see where they can meet. And where? In the Gospel. (See?)

30. Now, this group that we are responsible for in Europe having raised up, (see?) the people have turned down the truth for the last time. And remember, before Jesus comes, the last plague is spiritual death. Then you cannot have spiritual death, you'll never type out unless first of all God has given the people the truth.

But the Bible says, "They will turn it down. And when they turn it down, they have no recourse but to believe the lie. Which is what he said to Eve. "Oh, it's alright, why you won't surely die." (See?) And when God in the end time sends that prophet with the Word, they turn him down. They say, "Well, now look, who in the world needs the prophet?" (See?)

31. Like a dear brother not long ago talking to me, I know he misunderstood exactly what we believe the end time prophet do, because he was trying to tell me in a roundabout way, not really make it too hard on me, but showing me that Christ was our righteousness.

"Why, (I said) I've got two sermons right now that, not because I preach them, but because of the Word that is in them, they're masterpieces on the subject. Christ is our righteousness, I'll back it up a million times. But Bro. Branham is not my righteousness, but He came to make sure that I would have what God had for me for this day." There's a big difference my brother, my sister. there's a big difference.

A man coming to let me know about my legacy inheritance is not the one who died to give me the legacy and the inheritance. But the man who came in the power vested in Him to make sure of my inheritance is not the man who gave me the inheritance. He merely made it sure. So, William Branham never came to place the Lord Jesus Christ. And some people think that which is ridiculous. We're accused, you see, but what will happen to many people who do not understand this? They will believe the lie, because God said, "If they don't believe the truth they'll be sucked into the deception." But you see, the deception is with all deceivableness. (See?)

32. In other words, the upmost cunning demonstrated in the Garden will be back again. Now, It says," God will send them strong delusion, they'll believe the lie." They will, they'll believe everything that's alright. But what is believing the lie? "Millions now living shall never die," That's the great lie of this age. Now, I know people believe other than that, but that's not...there's no use believing, because this is the truth. Bro. Branham said so. I'm merely paraphrasing what he said.

He said, "Millions believing they're going to make it, are not going to make it." And he said, "Now, let's face this thing, the harlot will not be surprised that she doesn’t make it, because she doesn't figure on making it. The gambler will not be surprised, and the murderer, because they don’t figure on making it. But the surprise is going to be with those who thought they'd make it, but they won't make it, because they believed the lie."

Millions and millions, and millions, and today there are seven hundred million Christians nominal and real. Of course, the real are very, very, very, very, very, very few. The seven hundred million others are the great majority, maybe ninety-nine, and nine-tenth percent are worse than that, likely ninety-nine, and almost ninety-nine hundred, that's just a figure. (See?) I'm talking about reality, Bride material. Of course they'll be those under the sign of the foolish virgins who come in later on. The' Question and Answers' 1961, [01-12-61 (or) 10-15-61] you get a perfect picture that Bro. Branham discussing the foolish virgin then in the Book of Matthew, and also Matthew 25: at the White Throne judgment.

33. Now, God sends strong delusions, they believe the lie that they all might be damned. They all might be judged who believe not the truth. Now, the word is not 'damned' as condemned, 'they're judged'. In other words, all of these who do not believe the end time Message, (not now because I'm saying this) if you don't believe it just ask yourself on question: Who make it outside of the seven with Noah in the ark? You can sure ask yourself the question.

Now, It says, "That they may all be judged, who believe not the truth." [2 Th 2:12a] (See?) The truth. (notice now) 'the truth' as against 'the lie', and 'the lie' started in the Garden which was perversion. (See?) So, we're going to get back to the un-perverted. "But they had pleasure in unrighteousness." [2 Th 2:12b]

34. "Oh, (you say) I get it, now that's the gang that’s carousing and drinking and working mayhem, and shooting up the bar down the street, and they're roughing up little citizens, mugging dear little old ladies.' Nooo, it's not. Ooh no, it's not. These are respectable people. We're going to show you how respectful they are, how much they got too. Oh yeah, they're fine people don't you ever believe otherwise.

What is their unrighteousness? Their unrighteousness lies in the fact that they had pleasure of fornicating with the world. Their pleasure is a spiritual fornication. Which is denomination, which is creeds and dogmas. There is no such thing as denomination built upon truth, it has to have a creed and a dogma. And brother/sister, if you have no creed and a dogma but you're on the truth, you couldn't be denominated if you tried. Because it's just as far part of the poles, but they're awfully close. See, because of the deceivableness.

35. Now, Paul tells us about this in the end time. He tells us the deceivableness of it. He tells us that how close it's going to be, just like when Eve was there. One little word.

"Now, Eve, now, now, now Eve, look, look now, let's just be good friends about this. After all Eve, God is pretty inscrutable, have you ever seen Him?"

"No, but my husband Adam has."

"He has?"

"Yes."

"Do you believe him?

"Certainly."

"But God's not talked to you."

"No, He's talked to my husband."

"And the information is that... say, just a minute, when did this happen, when you were here, or before you're here?"

"Oh, this happened before I was here."

"Now, now maybe He's just telling you that, to hold you under his thumb. Because after all, you really don't know, you're just hearing what somebody else said. You just won't really die".

"How in the world could God condemn people today? Why they worship God, they love God, they die for God. And you turn around and tell me that in the end time they'll be condemned, because they don't follow a little man."

I didn't say to follow a little man, said, "follow the Word." See, Paul the man. I'll tell you one thing, though if he did follow the man he'd still be doing pretty good. See, not real morals, and a few other things with it.

36. But now, listen, we're going to go back in our Bibles now, and we're going to go right back to show you what we're really driving at here. In the Book of Numbers 16: Now, It says,

(1) (That) Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:

(2) And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous (famous, oh extra famous) in the congregation, (they were) men of renown:

Why, they said, "We're business men, ...?.... organized. You say, "Full Gospel ...?....?"

No, the Full Gospel were telling us that they were original. Hogwash. Why your originals are the 'Fishers of Men' out of your Baptist, Presbyterian's, Methodist and every fundamental in the country. [blank spot] ... totally needed the Full Gospel people.

Now, I want to ask you a question, do you believe for one minute that these were princes according to being categorized as crown prince's? No sir! There weren't any kings at this time. Israel never had a king till after Samuel's day. So, they weren't princes, per se, as a king has a son who is a prince like David had sons who were prince's. These are big shots. They were land owners. (Oh, I'm getting mighty mean tonight, but I was always known to be a mean man. I don't even like my corncob wet. I like a man absolutely dry so that I can rub him that much harder.)

37. This has been lying here a long time, these are business men and you know it. They were men given an authority in the assembly, because they were some of the men who had the Holy Ghost come upon them after Moses had some of the spirit taken off of him. They were men of reputation, they were men of power, they were men of authority. And there were two hundred and fifty in assembly, they were famous. They had everything to commend them in the sight of humanity. They might have been charitable. Why, one of the men here might have put on a drive to help out the widows and orphans.

Somebody else said, "You know Jordan overflowed its banks last week, and some of our brethren had their crops washed out." And they said, "Let's go down and feed them." And they passed the hat, and they took a bundle of money and they went down and fed them. They said, "Isn't that ...?.... why Bro. Jones is the most fine, wonderful in the world. Bless God." (Pat, pat, pat.) It was men of renown.

(3) ... they gathered themselves together against Moses and against.. (the spokesman of Moses... Uh?)

Anybody that gave Moses' Message, just like Aaron did. They had her in trouble right there. They were in trouble. They were blood brothers, and they were also spiritual brothers.

(3) ...and (they) said (to) them, (You) take too much upon you,... (Yes, you do, yes sir.)

38. Now, what constitutes authority.? The written law (the written law) backed up by force constitutes authority. But! When you have two forces you could be in trouble concerning the authority of what was written. Because the two forces may argue and say, "Well, I'm going to put it in my way." And the other fellow says, "I'm going to do it my way."

But, where did the Word come from? God! Who brought the Word? Moses! Now, who had the power? Not just Moses, now we've got a problem. Because Moses though bringing the Word is not the only man with power! (See?) Because these seventy men who had the Holy Ghost upon them, which is power, they did not bring the Word. But they withstood the man who had the Word and the original power, because they did not have power given them until God allowed the power to go off the man and whom the power was, and go on them. And they began prophesying, and they begin having works and signs amongst them.

39. And they rose up and said, "Now, hold it, hold it, hold it. Now Moses, we know for a long time as we looked at you, you were the only one that had anything. You had the power, you had the Word, therefore that constituted true authority. But now Moses, I want to tell you something: now that the Word is written and we have some power too, we can come against you." And they did.

Now, you see a picture again? You see the picture? The picture, is exactly here and it's going to repeat in the end time. (See?) Where you've got a problem, because you're going to have two clashes, the real one and the wrong one. (See?) And they're both going to have authority, or power, and they'll both demonstrate power. Sure they will, they'll demonstrate power, but one is going to be wrong. And the clash is going to be over the Word, because Paul said, (let me read It to you now, you think I'm telling you...you know I'm not getting this as perfectly as I like to get it. Because if I wrote it all a piece of paper ahead of time, come off better. But it's going to come out alright anyway, because I feel God's in it. But if I didn’t feel God's in it, I'd sit down and shut up.)

40. Notice what It says here, in Hebrews 13:

(7) Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, (believing the whole Word) considering their (behavior.)

Now, notice what It says here, "Remember them who have the rule over you, by the Word of God." (See?) Now, as long as Moses alone had power, he could say, "Okay, you boys want a show down, (said he, throwing down his staff, taking off his outer garment) let's see." (See?( Well that never came at that time, because he alone had power, and he had the Word. But, when the time came that God allowed these people to have power, that's the time they rose up against Moses.

41. Now, let me show you something here. Let me read a little further first of all: [Numbers 16:]

(3) ...they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said, (You) take too much upon you,...

Now look, they didn’t say, "I want to tell you something, if there ever was a lying mess, you're it." They didn't say that. They said, "Moses, we recognize you to be a man of God. we recognize you got power, now we know that. But, we've got some too, and you are asking as though you've got it all, and you are telling us that it's got to come by you, we've got to knuckle under, we're going to give you trouble, because we don't go for that."

Now, notice what they said. They said, "You take too much upon you."

"On what grounds?"

"See, all the congregation are holy."

Now, were they? Everyone went through the Red Sea. Everyone went through dry-shot. Every-one went through the Cloud. Everyone had the Pillar of Fire. Everyone ate Manna. Everyone drank at the water smitten-rock. Everyone had something."

42. Oh, you bet they did. There wasn't one that didn't have it. So, they said, "You take too much upon you, for seeing all the congregation are holy." (See?) Let's have a body ministry. (Oh boy, latter-rain.) Bro. Branham said, "The closest thing to the real thing the world sees as Pentecost is latter-rain." Pentecostal latter-rain, body ministry, we're going to have it by the group. Everyone's holy, the Lord is among them. Wherefore then, have you got the unmitigated gall to make yourself something above us?"

"Now, we're all of one lump." Sure you are all of one lump. "And Bro. Vayle, there's neither male nor female, so women can preach." [said with a sarcastic tone] Oh shut up. How sickening can people get? You see it here? ...?....

"Why Moses, you're Miriam's sister." And they said, "You think that he really heard from God, when God said to Moses, 'It were better her daddy had spit in her face and fed her to crocodiles, that she rise up against him'."

"Boy, ...?... God wouldn't. God would never say that." (Uh?)

"Well, Bro. Vayle my God wouldn't, why He wouldn't stop a woman from preaching. And my God wouldn't reprobate one and elect another. No, oh no." (See?)

"Why do you lift yourself up? How do you stand here like God's spokesman? How do you make us you stand here in a relationship with the Word?" (See?)

Aw-hem, remember, if you're going to have authority, it's got to be based upon Word and power. And these boys had power, and Moses had power but only one had the Word. Glory to God, I feel really ridiculous right now. Because that lets me out, I don't take authority over anybody. I stand being authoritated over. [Bro. Vayle chuckles] (See?) "Don't you lift yourself above the congregation with my PhD, and my DD, and I'm not just one of the two hundred and fifty. I want you to know I'm a little special with you tonight. (See?)

43. We had a guy down in Florida when Bro. Branham was coming down, I said, "Sir, you can come and join us."

And he said, "I want to tell you boy, I've got a meeting going on, we're not going to come."

Well I said, "That's your privilege, because I gave you a privilege to come, and you denied it, that's good for me."

Pretty soon he's rapping at my door, because he spoke, "You mean William Branham is coming to town we've got a meeting? Cancel ours, we're going to his." So, they all came over and he began buzzing our lines day and night, he wanted to see Bro. Branham. I don't know what for, he wasn't important before why should he be important now? Maybe his congregation buzzed him. You know how congregations do. Now, not in sympathy now, but this time it's good for a laugh at least.

And anyway, he comes buzzing on our phone, and driving my wife and me crazy. And one day he said, "Now Bro. Vayle, I want you to know, (he said) I'm not just some little fellow sitting by the side of the road, I'm got a big congregation, I do so and so, so and so."

And I went to Bro. Branham and I said, Now, Bro. Branham, this man...what he said. And Bro. Branham said, "Oh, (he said) Bro. Vayle, tsk, tsk, tsk, we just can't see him, he's too big for us." [loud laughter] If you can't see that spirit today you got to be blind. And here is where it started where God's church in the wilderness types the church of the Gentile ages. (See?)

44. Now, lets' go to Psalms 68: and see the picture, because we're leading up to it. This is one of my favorite sermons although it's hashed up, because this is what really saved poor old Lee Vayle from quitting the ministry, and quitting everything and just stop and ...?... and say, "forget it." See, now this verse here It says: in Psalms 68:18

(18) Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men;...

Now, you've received gifts for men. Now, what is that? Just hold your finger there and go to the Book of Ephesians 4: (you all know these verses, but it's just good to drill them in, till bless God, we know them perfectly.) It says here verse 8

(8) Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts (to) men.

And then in verse 11

(11) ...he gave some, apostles; and (he gave) some, prophets; and (he gave) some, evangelists; and pastors and teachers;

What did He do? He set them in the church, the gifted ministries in gifted men. These are men given to the church:

(12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

(13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (And so on.)

45. Now, that's what He gave, He gave men to the body of Christ, which is His Body, the fullness in the ...?... all and in all, established and put them in the church, by the Word of God, because they would take the Word to the people. But over here in [Psalms 68:] verse 18, It said,

(18) ...yea, for the rebellious also, (he gave gifts) that the LORD might dwell among them.

This is the very verse employed and found in Numbers 16: where the people without the Word rose up because of power. And they said, "Moses' God is amongst us." Because they could do what Moses did, up to a point. (See?) Moses did it first. But, when they found out that God would let them have some too, they said, "Well, God's among us, God can talk to us, we don’t have to listen to you, we've got authority."

46. But remember, their authority was apart from the Word. They said to Bro. Branham not too long ago, (because he hadn't been dead too long,) "Bro. Branham, you're a man of great power. You’re a man of great authority, why don't you use your authority when you see all those dear saints of God out there suffering and dying? Use your authority!"

He said, "I've got the authority, but I don't have the command!"

Then went right... See, what they did here? They went and they deliberately used the very power of God apart from the Word of God. (See?) They did not have the Word! And poor Eve, she was given an authority in her body to keep it clean as the temple of the Holy Ghost, and so on. (See?) But, she used that power of her body apart from the Word of God, and brought Adam in, and they raced into captivity to the devil, And you've got the very same thing right today in America, and right today in the Word where the Bible says, "In the last day." Not at Pentecost, but at the last day what was prophesied at Pentecost.

47. And when Peter stood up there and he said, "This is the Holy Ghost spoken of by Joel." And he said, "I'm telling you about it. It's pure today, it's perfected, it's wonderful." And this Holy Ghost only fell upon the hundred and twenty names, the Elect of God at that time. But, he said, "There's coming a day when the Holy Ghost will fall upon all, (a-double-l) flesh." Doesn't matter what kind of flesh it is, all flesh. And he said, "Your sons, and your daughters shall prophesy." [Acts 2:17] (See?) And he said, "Also my men servant, and my women servants, [Acts 2:18] are going to have the power too."

Notice what it was, two groups. Two groups and both religious just like in the days of Moses. you have the people right today. And brother/sister, there never was a time on earth as this time, when the Pentecostal power (so called) has inundated the whole world, until you've got almost anybody, or everybody of no matter what he believes, and how he believes he's producing signs and wonders and miracles. And they're genuine gifts of the Holy Ghost, but they are apart from the Word of God.

48. Now, William Branham came on the scene when there was a dearth such as you've never seen. There was an absolute dearth. A little independent Baptist preacher stood up amongst the Pentecostal's and without speaking in tongues, without believing in their doctrine, without having anything common to them; stood up in their meeting and they saw in him that which they them-selves could not even begin to approximate as the power of God. And they were absolutely taken by this, and they wanted to use him according to their creeds and their dogmas and fill their churches. I know they did it actually. They did it alright, they wanted and they did it.

But, you see he had the power and he had the authority of the Word of God as well as just power. But, when he began to preach the Word they turned him down. Why? Because by now it was worldwide, everybody is looking at him said, "Well now, we can do the same thing he can do, this is the way that God did it, this is the way it is supposed to be." And God knowing in His sovereignty indicating by His Word that at the end time the Spirit of God would be anointing men and women. It was prophesied in Matthew how it would be.

49. But notice what It says in the Book of Matthew, (this is all part of the story) in 24: it's the very end time.

(24) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, (that word in the Greek is 'lying prophets', even lying prophets, that's what they're called by even Peter) and shall shew great signs and wonders;...

Now notice, It says, "Lying prophets." Now remember, Deuteronomy 13:18 come after Numbers 16: In Numbers 16: we saw men with the anointing that Moses had taken off of him, and put upon those seventy elders. We saw them become a thorn in Moses' flesh, because they bypassed the Word of God and led the people astray by acts of power saying, "Look, we got just as much as Moses got." (See?)

Now, that went on a pace. (See?) And it's God on a pace today until we're in the very, very same place. The people today have the Spirit of God in signs and wonders upon them, but they don't have the Word of God and they operate apart from the Word of God. But the gifts of the Spirit are genuine.

50. Now, here's the thing which has confused the Methodist, the Baptist, the Presbyterian, and everyone with an ounce of common intelligence to know that the way that some people carry on is not the evidence of the Holy Ghost born again believers. Because they've seen their lives, their actions, they've seen the power of God manifested. And they have said they're erroneously, "This is the power of the devil." They said the devil can heal. He can't heal. (See?) They attribute it to Satan, the very works of God. Why? Because they knew there was something wrong with the people using the gift.

But remember, for the Bible distinctly says here in Numbers 16: which is our basis before Deuteronomy came in now, that a prophet can come in and show both signs, good and bad, see, that came in, I mean, show you good signs, lead you astray. These men here had good signs, lead people astray. Balaam had a good sign, lead the people astray. (See?) In the last day it's the same thing. They have the genuine signs of the true Holy Ghost. (See?)

51. Now, what does the Bible say? It says the Lord is amongst the people by a gift ministry. Now, please watch this and get it carefully. I want you to get this down. He said, "Where two or three are gathered in My Name, there am I in that midst." [Mt 18:20] Said, "Here am I." He's right there with them.

Now, the Bible says that, "He was in the midst of the people by the signs and wonders." I don't care who you are tonight. I don't care what your background is. I don’t care how shoddy your life is. You hear me? I don’t care how shoddy your life is. (Uh?)You can be like one of Bro. Branham's business manager, walked off a plane goose-stepping drunk as a hoot-owl. I don't care. Speak in tongues anything else, go ahead. Speak all the tongues you want.

You can be like a fellow in the Carolina's they tell me had a forty day fasting ministry to come and see the power of God, end up in Jerusalem drunker than a hoot-owl. Now, I can name names. You say, "You're a dirty dog Vayle." No, I just know it happened, you catch me drunk, go ahead and tell the world. Better catch me first, otherwise you're lying. We know the story on these things, we know what's happened around the country.

52. Do you get the Scripture though, the understanding? God is amongst them by signs and wonders, but not in the reality of the Holy Ghost indwelling by the Word. They have forsaken the Word of God, and gone to manifestation. Then they say, "Well, we've got to have God, because we got manifestation." Yes you do have God, just like the devil's got God, because nothing can exist apart from Almighty God. Not even a rock, not a little cow, not a little calf. Not even that piano there. That piano would fall apart, except for God. You and I are falling apart, except for God.

But, the Scripture says that, "God is in the midst." And if you come together in His Name, He will be there with those signs and those wonders. And there'll be genuine signs and wonders. As I said, "I can take you right to Philadelphia, or Baltimore, (I think it's Baltimore) got the book at home anyway, where the Worrell's(?) they're spiritist, but they pray in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. She speaks in tongues, genuine tongues, but she talks to her mother. (See?) You just leave your kinfolk alone brother/sister, stick with God that will help you. Stick with God, never mind your kin folk. Never mind your kinfolk at all, just stick with God. (See?) She's out, she sees her mother talk in tongues, (genuine tongues) they pray with the most wonderful results you ever heard of. Discern to beat forty.

53. You say, "Bro. Vayle they are those spiritists, now you see that would have to be the devil. Uh, uh, just not the devil at all, it's God. Devil can't heal. Devil can't heal, I'm sorry, you're still getting mixed up. Do you see the truth in that we're talking about? Getting this thing down brother/ sister, it's perversion we're talking about. It's not God here, and the devil here, it's the devil fooling the people to worship him thinking it's God. And these genuine signs and wonders God said would happen at the end time.

Now listen, I know that this sounds strange, but God said it, and I'm going to stick with it. Because I have no apology to make, I admit tonight when people are being healed, and yet I see men with their lying golden calf scheme, until they're written up by newspaper columnists and held up to ridicule, like that golden pocketbook they've been viewing in Dallas. Written up in the paper, you seen it in your Tucson paper? Get your Monday morning Tucson paper out, go on and read it for yourself. A sarcastic editorial on this man who wrote and said that he was burdened, burdened, burdened, burdened for the man who hadn't sent him the four dollars that month. And the news-paper columnist didn't intend to, just wanted to find out the rat he was.

Maybe for all I know, hundreds of thousands of dollars, could be millions for all...after a bit, yet the man is standing before people talking about Jesus, giving altar calls, (and everything else) with a scheme that is as rotten as anybody ought out of Egypt. In fact, I want to tell you if ...the Jews on Wall Street, they'd leave the stock market and get into it. One of the best rackets you ever saw. (See?) Sure they would. You tell me a man has a genuine baptism of the Holy Ghost? The Bible doesn't say he has.

54. Now, let me show you something, (see?) listen. There is no such as an effect without a cause. Now, brother/sister where did this all come from? What happened at this end time? That what we had fifty years ago, that seemed so real today, has become the chaff of the ages. Well, I'm going to tell you: it's getting in that Word of God and getting It all wrong that does it. Because when the Holy Ghost began restoring the gifts fifty years ago, or so, the people were not seeking tongues. They sought to have a filling of the Holy Spirit.

It is strange, but true, that many did speak with tongues. And because the Book of Acts, (now listen) is the historical, but not the doctrinal account of how the Holy Ghost come to what He does, they fell for the historical account and said it be an doctrinal account. The doctrine of the evidence of the Holy Ghost is that He will take the things of God, make them real, make the Word real, and make God real. Tongues is merely a gift. But, they took the historical account, and they said, "This is the evidence." But, they didn't have one Scripture that said it was the evidence. So, they were very, very cagey.

55. They said, "Now listen, at the day of Pentecost they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. Then they spoke with tongues." And it happened in three cases out of five, and two are silent, so we believe the other two, they spoke in tongues. Otherwise, what did Simon the sorcerer see and want? Now, I know all the arguments in the Book of Numbers, because I preached this for years. Oh, I could sell you a hard fast case on tongues is the evidence, don't worry. See, I'm not the professional liar I used to be hardly. I've come into Light. You got knocked down too many times by men like Bro. Branham and Bosworth. Took the wind out of my sails, and so there's no use trying to get those sails filled again. Yes sir. (See?)

But anyway, remember they said, they said this, now listen: "When you do get the Holy Ghost, and once you are filled with the Holy Ghost, you will speak with tongues." Now, that wasn't too bad, but that was a lie, that's bad enough. That's right, a little tiny lie. Now, they didn't mean to lie, but notice what happened. The next thing they said was, "you receive the Holy Ghost by speaking in tongues." See, where it went. And the third thing today is, "you'll receive the Holy Ghost which is tongues."

56. Now, that means brother/sister, the minute that you produce tongues, that's the Holy Ghost. Exactly what they teach. Started with poor old Joe Styles, he's dead now. But the fact is that this is where this all came out, it came with him. I was backslidden when I heard him. And a good preacher friend said, "Come on Lee, let's go down and hear."

"Well, (I said) oh Fred, if you insist I will." So, I went down, (you know) hating like ...?.... if you go down, because I wasn't at least interested. Said, "I've been all through you guys, go on, beat it. I've seen your lives." Don't tell me anything, you couldn't tell me anything for several years. I ran all the preachers off. But I wouldn't run him off, because he was my buddy. So, I went to hear him.

He said, "What did you think of that? And even in my stupefied condition of refusing to serve God, I said, "Freddy, I'll tell you something, I'm afraid of it, it's part right, but I know it's part wrong." See your deception?

57. But there was just enough in it, (see?) that was...looked so good and so like the Word and history, he used this Encyclopedia Britannica, and he used ...?.... Commentary in history. And he used everything he could get his hands upon not in the Bible. And today, you've got the Pentecostal people equating tongues to the Holy Ghost.

Now, brother/sister, I'm not at all going to say that tongues are not genuine. It's a genuine manifestation. Sure, but remember, that's the fooler, because the Bible says, "they're among them." It doesn't say the Holy Ghost is in them. It says, "God's amongst them, not in them." And if you're in the Bride you've got to have the Holy Ghost in you. And if you've got the Holy Ghost in you, you will have your authority according to the Word. And you won't make one step in evangelization, or soul winning, or anything apart from that Word. (See?)

Now, I know that this is kind of hard, even on those who say, "I'm a Branhamite."

You say, "Well, Bro. Vayle, the thing is I believe in those gifts of the Spirit today."

58. Well, that's nice, I believe in gifts of the Spirit too, they're in the Bible. But, I believe when that which is perfect has come, the gifts go out. I believe that Bro. Branham categorically said, "That if you are ministering gifts of the Spirit, definitely you are in Laodicean Church Age, when this is the Age when the move is on for the Bride." Because we are now coming into the age when the Bride has the Word, and having the Word is the Word, and she knows what to do with that Word, therefore, ''Thus Saith the Lord' is in her.

Now brother/sister, when you've got 'Thus Saith the Lord', you have come into the place of perfection. (See?) You're not back in the gifts anymore. See, what happened? All over the world we got Pentecostal men that go to Rome. And they say, "I tell you, that was a breath of fresh air when I was there with the curia, and I laid hands upon those priests and they spoke in tongues."

59. Well, let's look at this thing the Pentecostal's got it today. But in Chicago they had a theologian who was a nun. Imagine, the Catholic church, a female theologian. And she was on the platform and she was telling them in the Full Gospel Business Men, concerning the fact that she had the Holy Ghost, is because she spoke in tongues, and ...?.... so called Mr. O'Connor, (the call him father he was there too) and the woman warned them, she said...and I can't express her words, I wish I had her words written down, but I'm going to paraphrase it. She was letting the people know, "Now listen, don't push me, because though I'm speaking in tongues, and I've got the Holy Ghost, I'm sticking with my church."

And Mr. O'Connor got up and he said, "Now you people have had the Holy Ghost for many years, you're going to wonder how the Holy Ghost feels in the Roman Catholic church." Why, he feels right at home." Oh, I can't deny that, because I don't know anything about it. I don't under- stand maybe the Holy Ghost just feels at home, because He said He's going to be there anyway at the end time anointing them. So, He might feel right at home for all I know. I won't argue the point. (See?)

60. But, when the signs and wonders were done on the very campus of Notre Dame, where the one young man was literally killed by a car, the other had broken legs, and the one young man that was literally dead was raised up by the power of God as these students prayed. And the fellow with the broken legs was healed and he rose up, even though he had been cursing God a moment before, and they rebuked him and prayed and he got up. It's very strange that the spirit in the group of people, those young students, said, "Now you will worship the eucharist for an hour, and you'll say 'hail Mary's' for two." They were genuine absolute genuine signs. They were healed by God.

Now, right there again I know from my old Baptist theology, (which I had a very little in the Baptist seminary for six weeks, I got up before they kicked me out, I knew I was gone) they would stand and they would tell you straight, "the devil can heal, because I've seen too many people speak in tongues and live so wrong, and yet God healed, don't tell me the devil can't heal."

61. The devil cannot heal. (See?) This is your end time phenomena where you have the Spirit of God moving in signs and wonders, laying the foundation for the complete deception which is coming upon this world. And the people are already trapped, because as soon as Bro. Branham, and remember, the sign in his hand was given to snare the world. It was given as a snare, and it snared them.

When he passed on to teaching from his great miracle ministry wherein he could stand up and say, "Bring me twenty four of your worse cases, I challenge you," And where he said any time he had a vision, let a man be dead for fifty years, he would challenge the armies of the world to shoot him down, he would raise that man from the dead, because God said so. Where are you going to find an argument like that?

62. Yet the minute that he laid that authority down as a command of God, and went to preaching to bring out the Word of God for this day, they repudiated the Word, and they turned on him like they turned on Moses. Like they turned on Paul, because the Corinthian church did, and they're the only ones that had the gifts among them.

And they said, "Now, look here William Branham, I want to tell you something, (like they told Moses) now you just think you're too big. Now who do you think you are? Do you think we've got to listen to you? Why man, we've got God too. Our men speak in tongues, you yourself admit It was the Holy Ghost. Our men have great healing ministries, you yourself admit it, It's the Holy Ghost. Our men have discernment, you admit it, It's the Holy Ghost. Now, you come up here and tell us we're wrong? Now, look here William Branham, we've got as much to say as you've got to say, and we're going to tell them." And they did it, and they're doing it. And this Age will absolutely end my brother, my sister, with the wonderful signs of Almighty God literally bringing in the reign of the antichrist. Why? Because they have believed the lie. They have believed the lie, instead of the Word of God.

64. Are you still with me, or have I lost you there? Have you gone back to the Garden now, where I showed you the devil only used God's power. To do what? Deceive the very woman. Perverted that Word. And you've got them doing it right today. They have literally prostituted God. That's a strong statement.

What's the gift of the Holy Ghost? Merely a manifestation of the Holy Ghost, that's what the Bible really calls it. Man can't heal, the Holy Ghost heals, is that right? But, supposing I've got a gift of healing, that means I've got the ability by Almighty God to cause the Holy Ghost to do a work of faith which will make a person well. Is that right?

All right, supposing I go down a prayer line, and then take the diseases off everybody, when God's got people there that shouldn't have diseases taken off of them. Now, what have I done? I have made God go against His Own Word.

65. You say, "Bro. Vayle, now did you mean to tell me that as a little old mere man like me, and God's a great big sovereign God, and He has actually committed Himself to such a position, that I could go off that Word, and literally use God, because He's the Holy Ghost and cause Him to manifest in a way which is opposite to the Word?"

Well, evidently that's exactly what's happening. Because He said, "Many will come in that day, and I'll say I never knew you, depart from Me, you that work iniquity." [Mt 7:22-23] What was their iniquity? Healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out devils and doing might works. How were they doing it? By the Holy Ghost.

You say, "Well now, just a minute, why didn’t God stop them?"

Now see, now we've got you over a barrel, haven’t we? But He didn't did He? Well, did He? Now, why didn't He stop them. He said it would happen. He said it would happen. And this thing will go on and on, and on till the end time brother/sister. Till the Bride is out of the way. Because the Bride is waiting. What's she waiting for? She's waiting my brother, my sister, to be under the full revelation of that Word; when she being one with that Word.

66. And remember now, Bro. Branham was given the writing in the Holy Ghost that said he was going to plant the seed of the entire Bible, from serpent seed, (right?) to the prophet of the former-rain, and the former-rain is the teaching-rain where the false anointed ones are. Because when latter-rain comes there's only one group that's got the real thing, and that's the Bride. The rest of these are still back in the former-rain where the teaching was. But where they denied the teaching of Almighty God. "William Branham, we don't need you, we got the Word Itself." (See?)

Now, when did he preach 'Serpent Seed? September 28, 1958. When did he preach 'The Anointed Ones at the End time'? July 25, 1965. There it is. Seven years and God does things in sevens, opens the whole Bible. He said, "There it is, what you've been looking at you people. That's what's been tearing your heart out, making you wonder. Does the devil heal, or doesn't he heal? Can a man have a genuine Spirit of God upon him and be a hypocrite? Can these people do these mighty works and God say, "Oh, they're backslid?" No, he never did know. (See?)

Is there a God Who is Sovereign, Who has the election and reprobation one on each end? What is this Word? Will men now take this Word, believe It the way the prophet gave It, because he alone had the interpretation, because he alone had the vindication? (See?) No, they won't take it, they're going to believe the lie. All stage is all set. Why? Because these men got power, they got signs, they got gifts. They'll stand up there, I've seen them.

67. I've seen a man that...he's gone back to the Message, after having built a big university. Show me that in the Bible? Where is that in the Word of God? Let the Moslems build the universities, and teach their god, but don't let a Christian do. Where do we get this kind of nonsense? See, them stand up there jokingly laughing, take a woman by the necklace ...?.... with one little jerk, would dislocate that vertebrae already broken. And he'd claim Jesus' Name and then laughed. Said, "Take off you brace." And take them crunch, crunch. Perfectly whole. Perfect miracle.

Now, he never had ''Thus Saith the Lord'. He had faith. And he knew he had an action from God. Who healed that woman? God healed. But, hold it now, it took that man standing there with God to do it. God just didn’t do it alone. (See? Right?) I know you said God did it alone, because the man didn't do it. I'm telling you, God and the man were linked up. Otherwise, how come God didn't God heal that woman at home? He didn't heal her at home. He healed her by that man with the gift of healing.

68. I saw him one night take every single case down the line, not one miss. Little boy, pudgy body, no exercise, legs hanging like cooked macaroni sticks. Prayer, walked, run. Maybe twenty four miracles in a row. Where is he today? The same man said to Bro. Branham, you're ruining your ministry, by preaching that Word."

Bro. Branham said, "Any man's ministry ruined by the Word, better be ruined."

I want to ask you a question, was the man healing by the devil? Do you believe he's an example of the Word? No, you can't find him as the Word anointed man. We're in the end time brother/sister. But you see where it came from? Perversion. Perversion, perversion, perversion! It's perversion is the key in the Bible. And it ends up in such a condition, that the world actually worships the devil, thinking they're worshipping God. And they're doing it right now. Right now, because He said, "They that worship Me, must worship in Spirit and in truth." [Jn 4:24]

69. He said, "In vain do you worship Me, having for teaching the traditions of men." [Mt 15:9] He said, "You've made to none effect, My promise, My second Coming." In other words, you're going to miss It, because you voided It, by the fact that you have your traditions.'

"But, Lord, we cast out devils, we got the power, we've got to have God." Yes, you have got God right in your midst. That's right. That's right, but it's perverted. You think God will stand for perversion? Brother/sister, if I know my heart I know anything about the Word of God tonight, I'm not trying to lead you astray. Because why would I? Where would I take you, what would it profit me? Wouldn't profit me to just tell you a lie, or try to tickle you...make you think I know the Message,. or make you think you know the Message. That's ridiculous, what would it profit? It would be no profit. I'm trying to show you something in that.

The Word of God does not start with black and white, It starts with grey. With the grey of good and evil, the knowledge of it. And that is man's relationship to God on that basis. If you're in the grey belt, you'll never make it. You'd better be a million miles outside the camp in the black belt of the Word. Because He said, "The soul that sinneth it'll die."

70. Everybody who turns down that Word, of the revealed Word for their day brother/sister, I cannot see before God I cannot see. I said, "Turn It down, and walk in perversion." You say, "What about the man that didn't have light?" He'll be judged without that Light. "What about the heathen that never had the Gospel?" He'll be judged without the Gospel. "What about the man that never had a chance?" He'll be judged as though he never had a chance.

But, brother/sister, God said, He said, "Now listen, you'll die the minute you come into that grey area." There's no drunk, sober man. (See?) No light, dark day. The end time is a dull day. I said, "The end time church is got hot and cold mixed, she's perverted. But there shall be Light at the Evening time. There shall be a day when His Name is one, and His people are one, they'll say, "I believe the same thing." As God give them the revelation, and they'll be un-perverted brother/sister.

You see It tonight? It's not what the world is teaching out there, fighting the commies, this and that, over all right. That is, bless God, :we got the power. We got to be okay, we're winning all those souls." No brother/sister, the lie is perversion. Is perversion. Get it? Perversion, is the trail of the serpent. That's what that trail is, all through the Bible perversion. God is leading us back to the Word. Not one Word changed.

71. Bro. Branham often sang that chorus, 'Hold to God's Unchanging Hand'. And I don't believe there's any way you can hold to His unchanging hand except by the unchanging Word. Well, may the Lord bless you. It took a lot more time, could say a lot more things, maybe that you needed to have answered, I don't know. But, I've just got that one thought, 'remember, it's perversion', is what it is. It's perversion. That's the thing, watch it, we have the Word tonight, let's stick with It. Let's pray.
